A Boy I Once Knew

He was a boy with all the talent in the world,
Dark brown eyes that pierced right through,
A kind heart and gentle soul,
Riddled with guilt for living in the confines of his parents world,
Pushed to turn into a product of the rebel youth,
Dreams dashed,
Unaware of the life he is missing out on,
Away from that town where nothing really changes,

He was a boy who hid from life,
In the bottle,
In the needle,
In the pipe,
Green eyes that could see the truth in any lie,
No judgement,
Because he too has seen rough times,
Losing himself in a world of his own creation,

He was a boy that held on to anger,
And used the injustice he felt as fuel,
To keep pushing forward,
To crawl over the broken shards of hope,
That he crushed and spread himself,
Paying no mind to that fact,
Pale blue eyes that burned,
Like the cold winter wind,

He was a boy who was afraid to let anyone close,
Years of burying the pain deep inside,
His pure heart blackened by loneliness,
So he ran away,
Leaving behind all the nights of frustrated tears,
To become a man in uniform,
In a world where feelings are cast aside,
Hazel eyes that can't hide a thing,

He was a boy searching for someone to relate,
Another soul out there who wanted to watch the world burst into flames,
Someone to hold his hand while they slept intertwined,
A person to see the goodness in his heart,
Even though he seldom showed it on the outside,
Just a pair of the brightest brown eyes ever seen,
Cursed by the ever turning wheel of life,
Forever looking for someone or something,

If you care to know the truth,
'He' was a boy that I once knew.

Gratitude

I haven't been able to write for weeks,  I've stared at this page and wondered if I had finally run out of things to say,  Of course...
