In the folly of our youth we may have ignored advice,
In the shadow of our pride we may have hidden from their eyes,
But to the world around us we advertised our tries,
Making sure everything in our lives was on display,
Shouting loudly that we have nothing left to give,
All the while we were sitting on our own hands,
Through the wisdom we acquired in time we reach our hands out when in need,
But the memories of our selfish youthfulness cloud the minds of others,
Making them forget that they were once the same as we,
So we scrape and fight just to get by,
We learn the cruel unforgiving nature of a world we once found beautiful,
In the shadows of our youth we live and die.
